The unexpected storm left streets in the center and west of the Mexican capital covered in ice.
Authorities declared a yellow alert for 10 Mexico City boroughs that recorded half a foot of rain.
Authorities said one person was injured – suffering a broken collarbone – as a result of the roof collapse.

The man pointed to an area of the cell where water was seeping in, but ran to safety with another person as the roof began to collapse.
In a separate video, an individual is told by a colleague that two people have been trapped under the rubble of the 114ft by 65ft panel that broke.

Mexico City residents tried to play down the storm, which also toppled the roof of an auto repair shop.
“Tsunami warning has not been activated,” one user joked on Twitter after sharing footage of ice-covered floodwaters dragging a bus down his street.
“It’s not snow, it’s not a river, it’s any street flooded by the #hail that just fell,” another person tweeted.
“I want a relationship like this,” someone else wrote on Twitter, sharing a video of a man and woman throwing ice cream balls at each other.
