Dentons opens the “Venture Technology Center” in Mexico City

Dentons Mexico operation, Dentons Lopez Velarde, has opened a second office in Mexico City to respond to the growing number of technology companies that have chosen the Mexican capital as their base of operations for Latin America.

Sergio Legorreta, partner and president of Dentons’ venture technology and intellectual property practice in Latin America and the Caribbean, will lead the office in Tony’s neighborhood of Lomas de Chapultepec.

The company calls this office an “Enterprise Technology Center” intended to help clients navigate the constant and accelerated change that comes with the adoption of increasingly advanced technologies.

“Dentons Lopez Velarde continues to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing needs of its customers in the region and globally,” Legorreta said in a statement.

Legorreta joined Dentons in 2019 from Baker McKenzie, where he was Head of Intellectual Property for Latin America and Global Co-Chair of the Trademark Enforcement and Anti-Counterfeiting Task Force.

He has extensive experience in technology, media, communications, intellectual property and life sciences.

Legorreta has also assisted major technology, social media, fintech and crypto asset companies on strategic aspects of business operations from a legal perspective. And he is heavily involved in entrepreneurship and advice to emerging companies with incubators, accelerators and venture capital funds.

Dentons lists 40 attorneys based in Mexico.
